Volunteer Testimony

My name is Darrell Maclearn and I have been volunteering for a year. I teach health and fitness, which consists of mindset, nutrition, fitness, mental, physical, and spiritual health. I remember on my first day how engaged the men were. They were ready, willing, and interested in their health and wellness.

I first came to Steelbridge with Pastor Jason Lucero, a volunteer, to help aid him with a class he was teaching. After teaching that class with Pastor Jason, meeting some of the men and realizing the impact we can have on them, I was drawn to volunteer.

I love the encounters I have with the men who really want to live their best life, grow, and transform mentally, physically, and spiritually.  Volunteering at Steelbridge has helped me become more passionate about what I do and why I do it.

Some moments that stick with me ironically are sad moments, when some of the men that I invest in are no longer here at Steelbridge for sad reason, it stands out and drives me to give more in that area.

I continue to see God strengthen not just my faith but the community and leaders at Steelbridge. I love how God is using a variety of resources in the ministry. I teach fitness, health, nutrition and God uses that to reach others.

If you are thinking of volunteering, I would say step out, step up, and let God do the rest. Volunteering at Steelbridge gives me hope that one personal life will be transformed because I was willing to be used. I believe Steelbridge is important because it is our opportunity to help men and women have a better future filled with eternal hope.

I’m grateful for the opportunity and for God to use my gifts, talents, and abilities for His Glory through Steelbridge Ministries.
