Nikki, Volunteer Coordinator Testimony
Growing up with a mom who was an alcoholic was challenging. She was present, but often absent minded to what was really going on. During high school, my pastors in Farmington opened their home to me and cared for me through my short-lived college years. God placed them in my life at the exact right time. They welcomed a little girl who had no idea where she would live and showed me the love of God, helping me begin to understand who He was and who His Son was.
One day at church in Albuquerque, I listened as the pastor spoke about how faith without works is dead, and it felt like he was talking directly to me. I had been praying for a job without putting in the work. That same day, I applied to Steelbridge knowing I was not qualified and lacked experience, but trusting that God qualifies the called. After waiting a month, I finally called to check on my application, only to find out I was not qualified, lol.
Even then, I knew God wanted me at Steelbridge. My hiring process was contested three different times. I prayed and told God that if my car was about to break down, I needed Him to either drop money from the sky or provide a way for me to afford a new one. Two hours later, I received a call about the Volunteer Coordinator position.
God has redeemed my trials by allowing me to share my testimony with others who are walking a similar path. After losing two close family members to overdoses, the residents here continue to remind me that restoration is possible and that there is always victory, redemption, and hope through Christ.
