Jennifer’s Testimony
My light was so dim, it was barely flickering.” Before coming to Steelbridge, I was carrying so much pain, guilt, and hurt that I didn’t want to feel or even think about. The loss of my children left me feeling lost and full of hate. I lost my identity, I wasn’t trustworthy, and I didn’t believe I was a good mom. I didn’t want to live anymore, so I drowned myself in alcohol and drugs. The pain affected every part of my life. I lost contact with my living children, my relationship with my parents was broken, my health declined, and the hurt had paralyzed my decision making.
When I first walked through the doors of Steelbridge, I was broken. I was struggling with anxiety, depression, intense guilt, triggers, broken relationships, and an unhealthy emotional well-being. The hardest part of recovery has not simply been getting sober. It has been learning to talk about my children while sober and allowing myself to actually feel the pain of losing them. Counseling has helped me break down that pain and begin accepting what happened instead of trying to escape it.
Through this journey, I’ve learned that only through Jesus can I overcome my pain and my past. I’m learning to trust God and His timing and understand that He has never given up on me or left me. My children were a gift from Him, and by His grace and mercy, I believe I will see them again. Surrendering to God is helping me discover who I am in Christ. I’m learning coping skills, how to accept myself, how to love who I am, and how to be patient with the healing process.
To everyone who supports Steelbridge, thank you. Whether you give financially, donate clothing or hygiene supplies, or support this ministry in other ways, you are helping people like me get back on our feet. I have been fed and clothed, and burdens have been lifted from my shoulders so I can focus on healing and my journey with God. Steelbridge has truly become my foundation for a brighter future and a better way of life. Because of your support, I have been given the opportunity to heal, grow, and see God working in my life.
