A Letter from our Executive Director - Dominic Fischer
Dear Friend of Steelbridge,
My name is Domonic Fischer, and it has been my honor to serve as the Executive Director of Steelbridge since November 3rd, 2024. In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible work this ministry does every single day. As we look toward the future, I want to take a moment to share who we are, what we do and where we’ve come from because understanding our story helps reveal the heart behind our mission today.
Seventy years ago, a small group of believers on First Street opened their doors to Albuquerque’s hungry and hurting. What began as a simple meal and a prayer has grown into one of New Mexico’s most transformative ministries — Steelbridge.
From those early days as the Albuquerque Gospel Mission in 1954, to today’s vibrant recovery and restoration programs, one thing has never changed: our calling to meet people where they are and walk with them toward hope, healing, and new life in Christ.
Every day, men and women come through our doors carrying the weight of addiction, homelessness, and trauma — and every day, because of people like you, they encounter structure, faith, and the love of a community that refuses to give up on them.
This year, Steelbridge has:
Helped over 260 men & women in our program.
We have distributed 417,457 pounds of food back into the community, helping over 28 organizations combat hunger in our city & state.
Launched new efforts like our Visitation Center, reuniting families torn apart by addiction and giving children a chance to see their parents restored.
As we approach the end of the year, I’m asking you to prayerfully consider deepening your partnership with us, whether by becoming a monthly supporter or by increasing your year-end gift. Your ongoing generosity fuels every story of transformation that happens here. Together, we’re not just meeting needs for a moment, we’re building bridges of hope that lasts a lifetime.
When you give to Steelbridge, you’re not just donating, you’re investing in changed lives. You’re saying “yes” to restoration, to community, and to the power of faith in action.
Thank you for believing in this mission, and for standing with us as we carry forward a 71- year legacy of transformation. The bridge we build today will carry lives for generations to come.
With gratitude and hope,
Domonic Fischer
