Miss Barb

This month we're remembering Barbara Gunderlach, who served as our Foundations Core instructor at Steelbridge for 14 years before she went home to be with the Lord last December. For so many of the men and women who came through our doors, Barbara was the first person to open the Bible with them, and she did it her way: tough, blunt, and never one to sugarcoat the truth. But anyone who sat in her classroom knew that underneath that no-nonsense exterior was a heart overflowing with love and compassion for every single resident. She told you the truth because she cared about you too much not to.

If you ever had Barbara as a teacher, you probably heard her say "Should've had a V8!" whether she was laughing at her own mistake or reminding us how often we all stumble in our walk with God. It was her way of saying we're all human, we all fall short, and God's grace is still there when we do. We miss her dearly, but we have no doubt that when she met her Savior, she heard the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." And because of the foundation in Christ she helped build in so many lives, countless residents will one day hear those same words too.

Thank you, Barbara, for 14 years of faithfulness.
