Volunteer Spotlight: Jan

Our volunteer of the quarter is Jan Mckeever! Jan has been such an asset and benefit to our ministry at Steelbridge. Jan has been helping in our administration building to help make our operations even more successful. Jan answers the phones, greets new residents coming into the program, works directly with the executive assistant of Steelbridge, watches the grounds on camera, takes messages, and sorts mail just to name a few of the responsibilities she performs.

When Jan was asked what made her want to volunteer at Steelbridge, she answered “I wanted to give back to build the Kingdom of Heaven in my new city of Albuquerque. I was in a program at the Gospel Rescue Mission in Grants Pass Oregon back in 1989-1990 based on Matthew 5,6 & 7 and it saved my life and gave me the armor of the Gospel and the Spirit to be successful at life ever since. My life was transformed through Jesus Christ and is still transforming my life every day. Daily devotions have rebuilt my confidence to be an old stranger in this city and kept me seeking God's protection and direction while challenges surface. It is not about me, it's about the Kingdom.” Jan says she has received the blessings of the Lord by being able to be around the wonderful people at Steelbridge And we feel so blessed by having her!

When asked about what was most rewarding about volunteering at Steelbridge, she said “it is the kindness and acceptance from the people at Steelbridge, and that Jesus is in all their conversation and ways of being. Also being able to witness to people here about the love and goodness of a relationship with Christ.” Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

We can’t thank Jan enough for all the hard work she puts into helping Steelbridge run and her incredible attitude while doing it. We couldn't do it without help from our community.
