Have you ever heard news that, at first, seems like it’s going to make everything in your life worse? Your husband’s job is moving your family to a new city? That boss who believed in you is leaving? Maybe you found out you were pregnant while your life was falling apart.
And you thought “No. No. This cannot happen now. I can’t handle this. It’s going to ruin everything?”
All over Albuquerque, there are women who find themselves homeless and alone. Some were abused and kicked out of their homes by a cruel boyfriend. Some escaped sexual predators or family. Some decided to party all the time and the music has stopped playing, everyone has gone home, and they are now addicts - willing to do anything for their next fix.
They are afraid every day. They medicate their fear with drugs and alcohol. And for awhile, they are numb to the harsh reality of their cold, lonely existence.
NOW CHILDREN JOIN THEM ON THEIR HOMELESS JOURNEY
Some of the women are pregnant. Some have children. Now their children are with them on their homeless journey.
The Steelbridge Women and Children in Crisis Center welcomes these precious women and their children. They are loved. Our staff and volunteers greet them with a smile and help provide for their needs. And they love kids!
Everything Steelbridge does is to provide long-term solutions to our guests and clients. The WICC works with partner agencies, churches, and the Women’s Center of Hope to find lasting help.
HAVE YOU BEEN THINKING ABOUT A WAY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Some of the women who come to the WICC find out that the “worst” thing that could happen to them, like having a baby, becomes their reason for wanting to turn their lives around.
They just need someone to help them. Our partners and volunteers make the difference.
